The Power of the City

In collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam, WTC Amsterdam will open the doors of Tower 1-2 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. We have curated an inspiring programme for residents, students, professionals, and visitors interested in learning more about Amsterdam’s past, present, and future.

At the heart of the programme is the Amsterdam City Scale Model, a detailed representation of the city that showcases its urban structure and ongoing development. It offers a unique perspective on how Amsterdam has evolved and continues to grow.

At 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM, visitors are invited to join one of two interactive Q&A sessions with journalist and author Marcel van Engelen. In The Making of a City, Van Engelen explores how Amsterdam transformed from a city facing significant challenges in the 1980s into one of Europe’s most sought-after and widely discussed urban destinations. During these sessions, he will share fascinating stories and insights into the forces that have shaped the city’s transformation, with plenty of opportunity for audience questions.
