On 12 and 13 September 2026, Amsterdam celebrates the 40th edition of Open Monumentendag (Open Monument Day). Throughout the city, 50 remarkable locations will open their doors to the public, offering unique insights into Amsterdam’s past, present and future.

As WTC Amsterdam recently celebrated its own 40th anniversary, we are proud to participate in this special edition. This year, our programme focuses on the monuments of the future, urban development on the Zuidas, and the ongoing transformation of Amsterdam.

The Maquette of Amsterdam

Following WTC Amsterdam’s 40th anniversary celebrations, the Maquette of Amsterdam found its permanent home in the lobby of Tower 1.

Experience Amsterdam coming to life in miniature. Created as a gift to the city in honour of Amsterdam 750, the model showcases Amsterdam in extraordinary detail, from iconic canal houses and historic landmarks to parks, waterways and neighbourhoods across the city. Multimedia stories integrated into the exhibition reveal how Amsterdam has developed over time and continues to evolve.

A true feat of craftsmanship, the Maquette offers a unique perspective on the city and is not to be missed.

Walk: Monuments of the Future

Sunday, 11:00 and 14:30

Join former Zuidas placemaker Eline Hoogendijk for a guided walk exploring the “monuments of the future” and the continuing development of Amsterdam’s newest urban district.

The walks depart from the Maquette of Amsterdam.
